At THE OUTSTANDING YOUNG PERSON OF THE YEAR AWARDS (TOYP), held at HILTON Malta, CLARE WON the ‘Business, Economic, and/or Entrepreneurial accomplishment’ 2010.
‘I am honoured and humbled to receive such an award which came totally unexpected but nonetheless has elated me and I accept it gratefully. Its an experience that reminds me to acknowledge my accomplishments in bow down to myself and all those who have contributed to my making. In a business sense, I am self-made but on a human level, I am far from that. I come from a normal background, went to public school (because we were 4 kids and im sure it would have broken my dad’s back to send us all to private school) and grew up with no frills. However, im so thankful to my parents for having valued other factors other than educational institutions. Often a times my dad came back from work and gleefully told mum ‘Pack up, we re going away to……Canada, America, England etc. and god bless my mum for never saying no and instead would devotedly would each time pack for us 4 kids. Those travelling adventures and the sense of freedom and expansion were the best education I got as a child. Secondly, id like to mention those particular teachers and mentors that I found along the way who recognized my potential and urged me on my way. Im also grateful to the many interesting and smart people i have crossed paths with, who without knowing, have inspired and motivated me to continue doing what I feel so good at for what I share with you, I receive back a thousand folds. Each person who is living his full potential in life has thought me something and I look for that quality in each person I meet along the way, knowing that to be happy is really not that big a deal.’

Clare went to the UK together with actor Matthew Scurfield to perform a devised piece from a book written by Matthew Scurfield, an autobiography based on his experience of growing up as a dyslexic in Cambridge in the 50's and 60's, the downfalls and the upswings and ultimate realization, as a survivor, that dyslexia is to be celebrated.
After having performed this piece 6 times in Malta they were invited to open the Dys-Pla during Dyslexia Week - Dys-Pla is a weeklong festival celebrating dyslexic playwrights in Camden. http://www.makingtheatrework.com/press-releases/
